Bacterial Cellulose–Polyvinyl Alcohol Based Complex Composites for Controlled Drug Release
نویسندگان
چکیده
Drug-loaded mono- and multilayer composite membranes were prepared. The composites, based on nano-fibrillated bacterial cellulose, nano-powdered polyvinyl alcohol, all biocompatible biodegradable, characterized in terms of basic factors related to drug diffusivity mass transfer: swelling ability, water solubility, vapor permeability. Tetracycline hydrochloride was used this case as model. Drug release evaluated an aqueous environment for two concentration levels the antibiotic, mathematical modeling applied fit experimental data. influenced by a membranes’ structure, layers’ composition, thickness. Bacterial cellulose nanofibrils proved be key factor achieving suitable profiles. Thus, sustained antibiotic delivery obtained several days composites. composites stability antibacterial efficiency before after TC-HCl continuous days.

Because of their bioadaptability and multi-functional characteristics, cyclodextrins (CDs) are capable of alleviating the undesirable properties of drug molecules in various routes of administration through the formation of inclusion complexes. This article outlines the current application of natural and chemically modified CDs in the design of advanced dosage forms. In an oral drug delivery sy...
متن کاملPreparation and characterization of a novel starch-based interpolyelectrolyte complex as matrix for controlled drug release.
A novel cationized starch-based interpolyelectrolyte complex (IPEC) was formed using kappa-carrageenan as the counter polyion. Characterization of the product by turbidity measurements and elemental analyses indicated a 1:1 interaction of the repeating units. FT-IR spectra for the IPEC showed some differences in comparison with either IPEC constituents or physical mixture. The swelling of table...
متن کاملMatrix Tablets: An Effective Way for Oral Controlled Release Drug Delivery
The purpose of this review article is to characterize all of the parameters regarding the types, polymers used, and release kinetics of matrix tablets. Matrix system was the earliest oral extended release platform for medicinal use. Matrix tablets are most commonly used methods to modulate the release profile of drugs. They are much desirable and preferred for such therapy because they o...
